ZeroLandfill to a global audience
March in Austin, TX is magic. The annual SXSW conference pulls the brightest minds in technology and innovation to Austin to share, learn and discover the newest trends in all the ways that we use technology for work, home and play.
For the next few weeks (or more precisely August 13 – August 31), SXSW Panelpicker is open. Proposals hoping to earn a slot in the SXSW Interactive schedule are looking for a thumbs up as part of the public voting process. ZeroLandfill friends and colleagues have submitted proposals in 4 areas. You can help send Cleveland to Austin by voting just once for EACH proposed panel.
Mike Dungan: Deadline Schmeadline. I’m writing an eBook!
Michael Dungan catalogs his experiences of publishing his first book online. Titled EntrepreNerve! Nine Stories of Change Agents and Their Restless Spirits, the presenter chronicles what drives select entrepreneurs to assume extraordinary risk and take on the status quo with their ideas. In addition to the stories themselves, attendees of this presentation will experience the meta-story of how the content was assembled, chronicled and released online, warts and all. Targeted at entrepreneurs, this session will also appeal to seasoned generators of concepts, business ideas and creative content.
Christy Gray: From Trash to Tribe **This is your ZeroLandfill story**
Finding our tribe was as simple as offering free trash to the creative community in over twenty cities across the country. Carpet, fabric and tile samples that are expired and unneeded in the design community become gold in the hands of art educators and artists. Beneficial reuse sparks passionate response within each market. Find out how we have built and nurtured our tribe, how they in turn have shared ideas and how we continue to support them with technology.
Laura Steinbrink: Watt is So Right About Peace Love and Me-Metering?
A new energy ecosystem is emerging and technology is in the center. Traditional roles of utility and rate payer are being replaced with a user-centric system of managing, consuming and trading kilowatts. The rise of the smart mobile device and in-home controls opens new opportunities for the energy citizen. In this presentation, learn from Laura Steinbrink, principal of Energy Avenue Limited in Cleveland Ohio, how this new paradigm is driven by consumer behavior leveraging mobile devices.
Colin Toke: The Social Ah-Hah! Mapping the Hyperlocal World
Hyperlocal journalism and the growing acceptance of user submitted content by major media outlets as a source of legitimate news-worthy material has broken down the barriers for average users to connect to their neighbors in their community to share what is important to them. Moving forward every person will be empowered to connect & inform not only their neighbors & peers, but also complete strangers passing through their vicinity. Using apps, services & broadcasted updates, everyone will be able to evangelize their special interests and passions not only in a hyperlocal way, but also in a geolocal format, pinning items of interest for anyone to discover.
ZeroLandfill will be a part of the magic next March. Won’t you help us get there?
